Legends of light - the first night

On Saturday, May 21^st, 2011 the big night finally arrived: the premiere of “Legends of Light”. The event was set up at a great open air location, the Güssenburg Castle at Hermaringen, and literally until the last minute we were not sure if we were able go through with it. Due to heavy rain on Friday the dress rehearsal with our narrator, Holger Loddeke, had to be called off. Then, on Saturday, lots of clouds raced over the Güssenburg Castle threatening another downpour. However, when the time came to decide whether to move the event to our alternative indoor location, the sun broke through and we were blessed with brilliant sunshine in a cloudless blue sky.

Together with a number of dear friends and enthusiastic volunteers we put up the huge screen (10 by 6 metres) and the powerful projector. After that all the sound and lighting equipment were added which would help transform the keep of the castle into an impressive world of sound and multi-coloured lights.

When the sun began setting in the West, the first guests arrived and with fading light more and more people came. It didn’t take long before we realised that the number of chairs we had set up weren’t sufficient. So we put out more chairs and benches and in the end we counted approximately 250 people in the audience! What an amazing beginning to the “Legends of Light”!
